The nervous system is the electrical network of our being. Over time, unresolved trauma or chronic stress can cause the dysregulation of our nervous system network. When dysregulated, we may experience a number of difficulties in our lives including anxiety, depression, apathy, insomnia, chronic pain and illness, etc. When we are able to heal trauma and release stress, we also heal the electrical network of our nervous system. When we heal the nervous system, we heal the emotional self so our authentic self can emerge.

SomatIQ™ breathwork is an embodiment experience designed to facilitate the release of suppressed stress and trauma in the body through expression and use of the breath. It facilitates the release of traumas and unneeded energies that are stored in the body and the nervous system, which may be caused by repeating thoughts, feelings, traumatic experiences, old narratives, limiting beliefs, internalized traumas, etc. SomatIQ™ breathwork takes you out of your thinking mind and connects you to the wisdom of your body. It teaches you how to trust and listen your body.

SomatIQ™ breathwork utilizes circular connected breathing coupled with rhythmic music that is intended to produce a cathartic emotional release. This release may be in the form of moving, shaking, crying, laughing or yelling (among others). By using different patterns of breathing, we engage our innate ability to heal and sweep out defenses, blockages, restrictions or pain that hold us back from being who we really are and how we want to show up in the world. The breath is one of the most powerful messaging systems in the body. It regulates many of the systems within the body. When the resting breath is rapid, shallow or restricted, it sends continuous signals of danger and fight/flight/freeze to the body, causing dysregulation. When the resting breath is relaxed, slow and deep, it instead sends signals of safety, promoting regulation. Creating a conscious relationship with our breath can quite literally transform our lives on every level, allowing us to feel safe, grounded, and present.

It is possible to experience a radical shift in energy in just one breathwork session. Breathwork is a powerful method for the following: anxiety & panic, stress, depression, clarity, mental focus, increase energy, heal quicker, release trauma, cleanse energy, clear out energetic debris & blockages, release tension & physical pain, deeper sleep, improve digestion, improve mood, reduce inflammation, and much more.

SomatIQ™ breathwork is designed to be a more balanced, gentle and accessible form of breathwork. It does not utilize a holotropic style of breathing for extended periods of time. In this modality the depth of the breath is emphasized over speed. There are some portions of the practice designed to stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, and others to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing for beautiful balance and integration of energies.

SomatIQ™ breathwork is intended as a personal growth experience and should not be considered a substitute for psychotherapy. Despite the more gentle nature of this practice, it does induce some stress on the body, and as a result, some contraindications are present for this work. SomatIQ™ breathwork is not appropriate for pregnant women; persons with cardiovascular problems, including angina or heart attack; high blood pressure; glaucoma; retinal detachment; osteoporosis; history of seizures; stroke; major psychiatric conditions; recent surgery; acute infectious illness; or epilepsy. If you have any doubt about whether you should participate in a breathwork session, please consult with your physician(s). Persons with asthma should have their inhaler present and consult with their physician(s).

In certain circumstances modifications can be made to breath style, intensity, and duration, creating a personalized, gentle breathwork journey.

A 90 minute session involves a full 60 minute guided somatic breathwork journey, with time for introduction as well as sharing and integration. A 60 minute session involves a gentle 30 minute guided breathwork journey, with time for introduction, sharing and integration. ***For virtual sessions: Please note virtual session in the notes. Please have a quite, private place to lay down for the session. Headphones are required for an optimal experience.​​
